Examinations

Examination results are always very pleasing and reflect the time, effort and dedication put into this. Examinations provide a carefully structured training system, ensuring that students are challenged in a safe, age-appropriate manner. They help provide short-term goals for students to aspire and work towards.

Royal Academy of Dance (RAD)

Classical

Our young classical students are offered Comdance Classical examinations from Primary – Grade 5 in the Comdance (CSTD) Graded Syllabus.  

Our senior students alternate syllabi for their major classical examinations, allowing dual qualifications with both Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) & Comdance (CSTD).  Both of these international organisations are courses of study that have been recognised by the Qld Curriculum Assessment Authority (QCAA)  as being eligible to contribute credit to the Qld Certificate of Education (QCE). 

We have qualified, registered teachers & examiners on our teaching staff ensuring high quality, technical classical training. Our studios are also the official Brisbane venue for the Comdance Vocational (Major) examinations. Excellent results are obtained in all levels of these examinations.

Classical is an essential subject ior every dance students wishing to excel. We offer our own vacation school (held in the 2nd week of the June/July holidays) for exam students, conducted by experienced & dedicated teachers.

Exam students are required to attend two classical classes in their level per week (Grades), and 3 classes per week (Majors). 

Comdance (CSTD)

Modern Jazz

We offer examinations in the Modern Jazz syllabus from Pre-Modern thru to Diploma level. This syllabus was created by one of our directors (Shelle Conroy), and is now examined throughout the world.

The syllabus offers a structured and complete training system in jazz, including limbering, turns, leaps & routines. Routines in the upper levels have been choreographed by some of the world’s leading choreographers including Zac Brazenas, Marko Panzic, Cat Santos, Amy Campbell, Lauren Seymour, Juliette ‘Jet’ Verne & many more.

Students are required to attend 2 jazz classes and 2 classical classes per week to be eligible for examination. Exams are held in early October, with entries closing early August.

Brilliiant examination results are obtained, with ‘Honours Plus’ (95% & over) being achieved by many students.

Examination students are required to attend our own vacation school (held in the 2nd week of the Sept holidays) in preparation for these exams.

Comdance (CSTD)

Tap

We offer examinations in the new Tap syllabus from Level 1 to Level 6, and in the existing tap syllabus Advanced levels thru to Diploma.

The syllabus offers a structured training system in tap, including barre & centre exercises, street tap & routines.

Students are required to attend 1 general tap class, and 1 examination tap class to be eligible for examination. Exams are held in early October, with entries closing early August.

Brilliant examination results are obtained, with ‘Honours Plus’ (95% & over) being achieved by many students.

Examination students are required to attend our own vacation school (held in the 2nd week of the Sept holidays) in preparation for these exams.
