Brisbane Dance Classes: Senior Classes

13 years and over

Conroy Dance Centre is one of Brisbane’s favourite (and best) training grounds for young dancers.

Our Pre-Senior (13-15 yrs) and Senior (16 yrs +) classes are designed to challenge and inspire dancers to pre-professional standard. Classes offered include jazz, tap, ballet, singing, musical theatre, contemporary and acrobatics.

At this level of training and to obtain maximum benefit, we recommend students take classes a minimum of 2 days a week. This enables students to take examinations & participate in eisteddfods (dance competitions), and allows them to continue to develop a strong technical foundation in dance. The majority of our students follow this level of training, which also means our classes are filled with students of similar standard and experience, allowing them the opportunity to progress alongside like-minded friends.

Students will be offered ‘Comdance’ (CSTD) Tap and Modern Jazz examinations. Students on the Ultimate package will also be offered a classical ballet examination with either ‘Royal Academy of Dance’ (RAD) or ‘Comdance’ (CSTD). We alternate examinations in these syllabi to allow students to gain dual qualifications. Students will also be offered the opportunity to perform as a member of our eisteddfod team. Those who love singing may be interested in auditioning for our professional children’s performance group ‘Starz Production Team’ or International touring performances (tri-annually).

Superior Class Package

1 Ballet / 2 Jazz / 2 Tap / 1 Song & Dance / 1 Musical Theatre/ 1 Jazz Exam

Optional: Acrobatic Arts / Extension (Contemporary, Lyrical, Commercial Jazz, Hip-Hop) / Progressing Ballet Technique

This Package is designed for the keen student wishing to dance well, whilst learning high quality performance & examination work. (Tap Exam, Jazz Exam) Students may participate in eisteddfods. Not eligible for Classical Examinations.

Ultimate Class Package

2 Ballet / 2 Jazz / 2 Tap / 1 Song & Dance / 1 Musical Theatre / 1 Pointe / 1 Exam Jazz or Diploma class

Optional: Acrobatic Arts / Extension (Contemporary, Lyrical, Commercial Jazz, Hip-Hop) / Progressing Ballet Technique

For students who live & breathe dancing this is the ultimate class package developing well-rounded performers & a high degree of technical foundation. Training suitable for a possible future performance or dance teaching career. Eligible for eisteddfod, RAD Major Classical, Comdance Major Classical, Jazz & Tap Examinations.

Senior Pre-Professional Class Package

Choice of 5 classes including ballet, jazz, tap, Musical Theatre, contemporary

Optional add-on: Acrobatic Arts, Diploma, Progressing Ballet Technique

This package is designed for the pre-professional performer who has completed most of their dance examinations, and is only available to students who have completed MJ9 or graduates of CPAC

Not eligible for examination on this package except for Diploma

Recreational Classes

Choose from a wide variety of classes including ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, Musical Theatre & Acrobatics

$22 - $25 per hour classes

This class program is best suited for an experienced dancer looking for a more casual commitment, but who wish to gain the quality teaching Conroy’s have to offer. Students choosing this package are not eligible to enter Examinations or take part in our Eisteddfod Competition Teams, but will gain much benefit and enjoyment from their classes. In 3rd term those who wish to take part in the concert may be required to attend a 4th class.
